A million lives, a zillion deaths
Lost childhood, stolen innocence
Violent life, abrupt ends
Wasted wealth, raped beauty
Pristine white snow, bloody red streaks
Homeland refugees, hinterland enemies
You hear the silent voices of the dead
Your breath is the last gasp of the buried
When the ground beneath vanishes
What will anyone actually control?

Good to see you back!
Love the contrast in this piece. Tragically beautiful.
Have added a link to this poem in my '55 word poem' post too.
Awesome! Liked the use of LOC...
grave things beautfully written
great! three wars fought over this piece of land makes it more tragic..i am not sure which is worse the wars or the natural disaster
.:a:. > Thanks for idea and the link.
casablanca, brood mode, ramchi and venkat > Thanks for your comments.
all along i thought you could garnish well only gravy things, but you have indeed granished a grave thing very well. irony.
kavidha...kavidha...abiraami abiraami :)
Kupps > Thanks !?!
amazing thoughts written out beautifully...
an aside, is this the 'Ram' related to me? technology, bangalore, Ilaiyaraja, Ram...the parallells compel me to think so..
balaji > Thanks for your comment.
frissko > Believe me, 'technology, bangalore and ilaiyaraja' will just about define most of the tech crowd from TN here..'ram' could be a co-incidence.. ;-)
Thanks for dropping by though. Hope to see you around.
a couple more parallells i dint mention - indra nagar and the general tone of your blog...anyways, evidently a coincidence...

brood mode > well not exactly..! was travelling, using up the Diwali/Ramzan holidays.. so access was a problem.. makes me think about the mobile blogging phenom which has caught on, evidently.. thanks for dropping by..
